. . . . . Monies are set aside from proceeds
from the auctions and the symposia to be used for small grants and
scholarships. Members apply for these grants to help fund their
research and education in paleontology.
2008 Karl Hirsch Memorial Grants
Call for Application
WIPS members are invited to apply for the 2008 Karl Hirsch Research
Grants. The Hirsch Grants have provided funding to support
members’ paleontological projects since 1994. The grants honor
the memory of Karl Hirsch, a WIPS member who reached the acme of
amateur paleontology. His contributions to the study of fossil
eggs were recognized and honored by several paleontological
organizations, including WIPS, The Paleontological Society, and the
Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.
The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1,
2008. No applications can be accepted after that time, without
exception! Awards will be announced at the May meeting. All
applications should be sent to Sue Ware, 307 Clermont Street,
Denver, CO 80220. Do not send applications to the WIPS
address. Electronic submissions may be made to
WIPS members are invited to apply for the 2008 WIPS John Jenkins
Scholarship. The grants honor the memory of John Jenkins, a
former WIPS President whose enthusiasm and leadership helped make WIPS
the successful organization it is today.

educational, and charitable and shall provide educational
programs in paleontology and related disciplines. Field trips,
lectures, seminars, and science-related activities are available.
Responsible codes of conduct in the exploration for and collection of
fossils are required for assisting museums, educational institutions
and cooperating with government authorities on state and federal lands.
